Playing catch up: the 4th of July and such

7/1
The girls and I went to a music program at the library. It was outside so we enjoyed a little picnic and music.

7/2
I'm still sick. Maya and Nora had a fever for a day and a half then several days later had a bit of snot and coughing. Derek had cold like symptoms for week or so. I think I have a sinus infection. I broke down and went to the doctor today because I was still so miserable. He gave me an antibiotic. Here's hoping that it works.

7/3
Nora is 19 weeks. Isn't she the sweetest.

7/4
Nora's first Fourth of July. We went swimming, Nora even had a quick dip in the pool. Then we had a pot luck with friends from church at which the girls enjoyed swinging. Well at least Maya enjoyed swinging, it was Nora's first time and she wasn't quite sure she enjoyed it. We then walked over to the park to watch fireworks. Maya enjoyed them this year. She cried a little at the beginning because she was afraid that they would be loud. But after they started she covered her ears and was like hey these are pretty.

7/5
We went to the farmers' market and nearby children's bookstore. Maya got her first (temporary) tattoo at the bookstore. They usually give out stickers. She was intrigued.

7/6
We went to a little hole in the wall place for tacos today. While we were there I noticed that Nora had a rash all over her legs and torso.

7/7
We pulled out the jumperoo today. Maya was so excited. She wishes she was still small enough to fit in it. Nora hasn't figured out the jumping yet but she can turn herself around to play with all the toys. Nora's still a little rashy. It seems to come and go.

7/8
We went to an amusement park today with some friends. We had a lot of fun but I think it will be better when the girls are a little older. Or at least it will be easier because Maya can ride more rides alone and Nora will be able to ride something other than the carousel.

7/9
I took Nora to the pediatrician today for her rash. I was concerned since I started taking an antibiotic three days before it started. I called the advice line and they said to bring her in. They always say to bring her in. Doc said it could be heat rash or who knows. I didn't know that heat rash would come and go quite like that but we will keep an eye on it.

7/10
I had a chiropractor appointment today. His office is fortunately/unfortunately right be a doughnut shop. Nora hit 20 weeks. Poor kid just has doughnut shop selfies to remember the day.

7/11
Maya had preschool music class this morning. Then we played with sidewalk chalk and the camera.

Playing catch up: the end of June

6/23
Today wasn't a great day. It's always rough right after family leave/we get home from visiting family. Plus the girls still aren't feeling 100 percent. And Derek and I are both feeling as though we might be coming down with it. The worst, however, was a call from a good friend. Her sister has been ill and was given a poor prognosis. My friend and her family are moving in a week to support and care for her. The whole situation just stinks. I'm sad for my friend and her family (please keep them in your prayers). I'm sad for Maya who is losing her best bud. We are really going to miss them. We are going to try to soak up this last week with them. Including the park and dinner tonight.

6/24
We went swimming today with our friends. Maya has been begging to go in their pool for a while. I'm glad we got a chance to. And Maya got a new floaty just in time. It's great. She was a little hesitant at first but she can kick around the pool on her own with it.

6/25
Nora had her 4 month well baby check this morning. She was 13 lbs 9 oz (32nd percentile) and 25 inches long (70th percentile). Her head was in the 97th percentile. She is pretty much over the bug so she got shots. She was kind of a grump all day after them. She finally settled down and had a nap after some acetaminophen and was in a better mood.

After her appointment we had the last day of playschool with the three girls. We did the letter S and decorated square picture frames with sparkly glitter and stickers to put a picture of the three of them in. They turned out really well

I love baby toes
6/26
We hit up the local kiddy amusement park/zoo with friends. Maya has decided that kiddy rides aren't evil. In fact, she thoroughly enjoyed them. She was beat by the end of the day. Nora turned 18 weeks old. This summer has flown.

6/27
Maya had her second preschool music class this morning. She seems to enjoy it but she gets shy. It seems hard to believe because the kid will generally talk to anyone about anything. But for some reason in the structured setting she clams up. The theme this week was the 4th of July. Maya enjoyed painting fireworks with balls and adding glitter. She loves all things sparkly.

6/28
We went to the farmers market and then helped our friends finish packing up.

Nora is four months and cousins come to visit

6/16
My brother, sister-in-law, and their three kids got here last night. Today we took them to the city. It was Nora's first time there. It was a busy day with lots of walking, sea food, ice cream, and lots of wind.

6/17
Beach trip today. Today was forecasted to be the warmest day there this week. It wasn't that warm. And it was windy. My brother noted that we can't live somewhere it's not windy. Maya loved the water this time. Last time she was terrified of it.

6/18
Today we went shopping, then had lunch and ice cream. I failed to notice that the parking was only two hour. About 2.5 hours later we got back to the car to find a parking ticket. While we were out Maya wasn't really acting herself and I thought she felt warm. Fortunately, I had a thermometer and tylenol in the diaper bag leftover from or recent trip.  She perked up after the drugs and didn't really have any other symptoms. Her fever gets up to 104ish when the drugs start wearing off. Derek took her to the pediatrician in the evening. She got the probably just a virus diagnosis and said her throat was a little irritated.

6/19
Maya, Nora, and I hung out at home today while everyone else went out. Maya's finally fever broke this afternoon. Nora hit 17 weeks. Maya wasn't feeling up to having her picture taken.

6/20
Nora felt warm to me this morning. I took her temp and it seemed normal so I thought it was just me being paranoid. Maya had her first preschool/music class. The basic structure is free play, circle time with music, art, snack, free play, circle time with instruments. She seemed to enjoy it. But she's shy in a structured environment like that. She was really into the instrument though. After preschool we grabbed a few groceries and a cake for an early birthday party for my sister-in-law. Nora still felt warm to me. I checked her temperature again and she had a slight fever. It never got as high as Maya's did thankfully. She didn't seem bothered by it.

When everyone got home we had a birthday party for aunt S. Maya was excited. Nora just wanted the camera.

6/21
Everyone but Nora and me went hiking today. We decided to keep her home since she was still feverish in the morning. She was still pretty much her happy self. But we didn't want to be out of civilization with a sick kiddo.

6/22
Happy birthday to aunt S and uncle M (my little brother who is not so little anymore). Had to say goodbye to everyone this morning. Maya is snotty and coughing. I assume this is related the the fever earlier in the week.

All the grandkids on my side of the family
